Timber Species

Local resources strategy

Driven by ethics and conviction, PIVETEAUBOIS always gives preference to locally grown resources. This means the company has full control over the quality of its products while helping regenerate local forests and thus preserve nature.
We use the most suitable specie amongst Pine, Douglas Fir, Larch and Spruce. Depending on their natural resistance and durability, we treat them or not.

Sustainable timber sourcing: we carefully select the best softwood from local PEFC- and FSC-certified forests: Pine, Douglas Fir, Larch and Spruce.

PinPINE

With a reddish-brown heartwood that’s naturally durable and a light, non-durable but highly impregnable sapwood, Pine is highly suited for treatment (CL4) and offers high mechanical resistance. Source: France, Poland.
Applications: structural components, interior and exterior joinery, cladding, decking, garden and landscaping.

DouglasDOUGLAS FIR

Douglas Fir has a naturally durable, salmon-pink heartwood and a moderately impregnable, non durable sapwood. Its high proportion of heartwood and its great mechanical resistance make it the timber species of choice for structural components. Source: France. Applications: structural components, interior and exterior joinery, cladding, decking, garden and landscaping.

MelezeLARCH

Larch is characterised by a distinctive golden brown, naturally durable heartwood and a low proportion of sapwood. Its fine grain and good mechanical resistance make it a favourite timber species for external cladding and structural components.
Source: France. Applications: structural components, cladding, decking.

Epicea
SPRUCE

With its creamy white heartwood that’s barely distinguishable from its sapwood, Spruce offers limited durability and is not impregnable. It does offer good mechanical resistance. Source: France. Applications: structural components, interior joinery, cladding, decking.
